RELEGION
The majority of Mizo are Christian which can be seen in the names of the locality like bethlehem, and kanan, various biblical name for thei children and churches that could be found in every locality. Mizo follows various denominations, predominantly Presbyterian resides in the district of aizawl, kolasib, mamit, champhai and serchhip. The major Christian denomination is Mizoram Presbyterian Church which was established by a Welsh Missionary Rev. D.E. Jones starting with 1894 the church has a deep connection with the church of wales. The Mizoram Presbyterian Church is one of the constituted bodies of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of India at Shillong in Meghalaya; it became the dominant sect of Christianity in north Mizoram.
Lunglei host the majority of the Baptist church while in lawngtlai there are the Lairam Isua Krista Baptist Kohhran which got separated from the Baptist church of Mizoram. Then in Saiha we have the Evangelical church of maraland.
Mizoram population has 8.3% Buddhists making them the largest minority, followed by Hindus at 3.6% according to the 2001 census. Muslims make up about 1.1% of whom mostly are from the neighboring state and from Bangladesh.
There are several thousand people, mostly ethnic Mizo, who have converted to Judaism claiming to be one of the lost Judaic tribe group Bnei Menashe, with descent from the biblical Menasseh.
The church holds a center point in the society of Mizoram. with church service throughout the week. The Presbyterian church has Sunday school in the morning, the noon service followed by a prayer service usually hosted by the church youth (KTP) and the night service. Monday night service is dedicated to the Church youth the KTP and the middle age members. while Tuesday night are the service for the women wings. Wednesday nights is conducted by the main church and Thursday and Friday are usually occupied by different committee of the church. Saturday night host by the main church.
